Red & sage green are a great combination. You could add an area rug and some sage/red/tan striped pillows to the red couches for contrast
1. What is the best way to wash my laminate flooring?
I ve always have suggested a light spray of a vinegar/water solution or a laminate cleaner such as Bona. Light spray and use a terri cloth swivel dust mop.to "mop" either solution. Wash head cover when needed. Bona sells ( as do other manufactures such as Bruce) starter kits that includes a dust mop and cleaner. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar, I ve attended several installation seminars as well as installed a couple 100,000 s/f. GL
2. Would it be cheaper to install laminate flooring or paint a floor?
Painting is cheaper, but laminate flooring will look better and last longer. Note: You only sand a hardwood floor, and you should not paint a hardwood floor. Stain is fine, but even a good paint job will destroy the value of a wood floor.
3. do I need moisture barrier under a basic wood floor before installing Laminate Flooring?
if your wood floor gets wet then do not cover it ..i doubt if the flooring or joist are tanilised.. and covering the floor with anything is bad for it . .wood needs to breath . .even more so if it gets damp . .and if you cover it with laminate it will rot at a faster rate
4. Mend scratch in laminate flooring
Nothing is going to make it disappear 100%, but with a little artistic talent you can hide it pretty good. You are looking for a Laminate touch-up kit (or the cheap version). Essentially you fill the crack with hard wax, and then paint it to match the 'texture'. The better your knack for colors, the better the result
5. I need to remove a section of carpet in my living room to lay laminate flooring at the entrance, any advice?
I did this exact same project a couple years ago. You will need a piece of tack strip cut to the width that you are cutting out of the carpet. Measure and cut the carpet along the edge where the laminate is going, I used a razor knife. Pull up and discard the carpet and lay your laminate flooring. To make the transition from the laminate to the carpet, I used a piece of threshold where one side butts up against the laminate and the other is notched along the length so that the carpet edge is under the threshold. Cut back the carpet edge so that it fits under the threshold, do not install the threshold yet. Now peel back the carpet 2 or 3 inches and nail down the tack strip. Pull the carpet as tightly as you can toward the laminate and push down onto the tack strip. Install the threshold piece to make the transition and screw it down, countersinking the screws. Cut dowels to fill the countersink screw holes and you are good to go
