I was officially 5'10, 145 when I enlisted. When I graduated from boot camp I was 5'9, 175. yes, three squares a day and the physical fitness will add weight. (muscle is heavier than fat) When I reported to my first duty station after mos school I was 5'9, 150. After 23 years of service I am now 5'8, 150. I guess all the years of pounding I shrunk an inch. I think it's really funny.

Not a chance. They don't select grunts out of 'boot' camp without Advanced Infantry Training and assignment to a permanent duty station. The Marine Corps wants qualified individuals with demonstrated good judgement, high test scores and who shot expert at the range as candidates for their prestigious Surveillance & Target Acquisition program. You must prove yourself worthy before they're going to invest that much time and effort in turning you into one of the most effective lethal killers on the modern battlefield. Graduating from 'boot' camp doesn't mean squat until you successfully undergo more sophisticated training and refinement. I hope that helps.Can I become a scout sniper out of boot camp?

Duder go for the free dental work in the military! Why pay out of your own pocket when the USA already owes you for your service! Good luck on getting into the Navy Seals, I can not imagine how hard that would be with all the sweaty swimsuits, sleep deprivation, and all the testosterone in the air. Is it possible to switch from reserve to active duty while in usmc boot camp?

No you can not switch your contract once you have shipped to boot camp. If you want active duty, refuse the reserve contract and do not settle for anything less. And switching from reserves to active is not guaranteed, so do not let them tell you it is as easy as asking.

Do you consider the Marines in the "Presidents Own Band" real Marines since they do not go to boot camp?

No I believe a true Marine goes through everything to be made into a Marine. Boot camp is always a must when it comes to the normal life of joining the military service, its a requirement. If the "presidents own band" does not go through the struggle and process to be made into a Marine such as boot camp, then I believe they are not a true Marine.

Oddly enough, one of the drill sergeants. I garrisoned in a specific location of Ft. Benning known as Harmony Church and was all WWII-era barracks and buildings. It was razed almost 20 years ago. Today there is a Facebook page for those who went there, open only to trainees and is open to drill sergeants. A couple from a different platoon that I didnu2019t know are on, as well as some from cycles before or after in the same company, where we relate that we had the same drills.At least you one drill from my company is there, and occasionally a drill will participate, or even share that while basic training is by nature rough on trainees (primarily why younger trainees that can handle it are recruited), the work that goes into leading and guiding us is hard work in itself. Itu2019s not simply leading by exampleu2026itu2019s being capable of doing the very things commanded of the subordinates. My drill didnu2019t get specific, but I could fully understand today what that meant, that I couldnu2019t 2/3rds of a lifetime ago.That drill even requested a friendship.Are you still in touch with anybody you met in Basic Training (or Boot Camp)?
