Color Management- Blog Post 3: Jefferey Williamson

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity, in class, to video chat with a very successful freelance graphic designer by the name of Jefferey Williamson. I was even more enlightened when Williamson stated that he was fro my hometown of Reidsville, NC. Williamson really inspired me by coming from a small town like Reidsville, NC and how successful he has become.

He went on to talk about his success in the industry and how important networking is in this field. I thought that it was amazing how he has had the opportunity to work with celebrities such as Jill Scott and Kandi Buruss. Networking as a freelance graphic designer and photographer is the key to success.

In all Williamson basically explained how the grind in this field especially for black and brown people, never stops. You should always be networking or finding different avenues to do so. Part of marketing is doing some jobs for free.

He mentioned about a shoot he had did for free and ended up booking about 4 other shoots for this year. During this video chat we all had the opportunity to ask Williamson questions and he was able to give us some good answers. As for what I would like to see more of in graphic design is more lack females like myself.
