Alibaba Goes to War! Smart Home Battlefield Adds Another Giant

Philips intelligent control air purifier was launched in China yesterday. It is also its first intelligent Internet product equipped with Alibaba cloud computing. It will be displayed at Alibaba cloud developer conference.

As early as may this year, Royal Philips of the Netherlands and Alibaba group have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. The signing of this agreement is the landing of the above strategic cooperation. According to the agreement, Alibaba cloud will provide Philips with services including cloud server, cloud database, cloud storage, cloud security and data processing, so as to meet the cloud computing needs of Philips in developing intelligent Internet products and solutions in the future.

Philips intelligent control air purifier, which was launched in China through tmall platform yesterday, will become the first intelligent interconnected product of bilateral cooperation. This product can transmit operation data to Alibaba cloud in real time through 2G, 3G, 4G and WiFi connections. With the help of mobile app, the air purifier can be remotely controlled. The app can display the urban air quality index (including PM2.5 index) provided by China National Meteorological Administration and the indoor air quality at home in real time. When the indoor air quality at home reaches the unsafe level, the intelligent control air purifier will actively push the air quality early warning. Users can remotely control the air purifier to control the air quality at home anytime and anywhere.

Wang Jian, chief technology officer of Alibaba group, said that the future economy depends on cloud computing, just as traditional industries rely on electricity. Alibaba cloud's value lies not only in the scale of the platform itself, but also in releasing the value of users and data as an infrastructure. Philips's intelligent Internet products will use the "electricity" of the new era of cloud computing, so that people can really enjoy the life convenience and intelligent services brought by new technologies.
