hould you wear a ski hat underneath a ski helmet?

Ski helmets are designed for cold weather and you shouldn't need any extra insulation unless it gets super cold. As a rough guide, I will wear a balaclava under my helmet when it gets below around -15 Celsius but that's mainly to keep my face warm rather than the top of my head. I always wear a neck-warmer though, unless the temperature is well above freezing.

In the picture below you can see that my helmet is vented so it's not quite as warm as my old helmet, which was not. However I do have a lot of hair so that probably helps to keep my head warm. It was about -18 when this picture was taken and I'm wearing neither a hat nor a balaclava.
