1. What is the best floor lamp for reading?
I can speak from my personal experience since I installed my reading corner in a small area within my living room next to a small bookcase. I've been using a replica of the famous Arco lamp, one of the most popular designs of the Castiglioni brothers. It's actually a replica I got from Manhattan Home Design, but for technical purposes, it has worked super well for me because it's a perfect reading lamp. Currently, I spend around two hours a day each night sitting in my Eames Lounge Chair with my favorite books. I chose this lamp after an intense selection process in which I visited several online stores and consulted various offers to make sure I was choosing the most suitable option for me.What is the best floor lamp for reading?
2. is a floor lamp enough to light up a room?
Depend on how bright you want your living room to be. I remember I used just a floor lamp from Target and it was just enough. Not too bright or too dark, however it did feel gloomy.
3. You have a floor lamp?
Nope. No Floor Lamp in my household. Have a good week ahead.
4. Why does my touch-on floor lamp turn on by itself?
This sort of effect can be quite tricky to track down. Devices like that can sometimes be susceptible to radio frequency interference from such things as passing taxis, emergency vehicles, CB radios, even mobile phones. Also by surges and spikes in the mains electricity supply. (Nearby appliances such as washing machines and freezers switching on and off) Unless you can find a cause, it's difficult to find the fix.
5. Can I bypass a broken floor lamp switch?
You do not need any additional components like resistors. Solder the wire and insulate the splice. (But "in-cord" switches are cheap, and easy to install.)
6. Where should I put this floor lamp?
One would usually have a spot for a floor lamp before purchasing but, behind a corner chair or end table might be a logical place
7. can i use these led's in my home floor lamp?
Sure, IF the integral tranformer on the fixture is 12 volts on the secondary (there should be a label on it somewhere)
8. first time at college...what to bring? what are you bringing?(personal items/not the basics)?
I recommend buying some Wonder Hangers (look online if they are not really a thing where you are). They let you hang up five things in the horizontal space occupied by one, maybe two things--great way to fit more clothes in a tiny closet. If you wear nail varnish and jewelry regularly, bring them. You will probably not have a lot of time to read for pleasure, because most college assignments are basically "read this and (write something/be prepared to discuss it next class/both)," but if you want to bring a few books just in case you find yourself with downtime or you need a mental break, you will probably have a place for them. You might want to bring photos of family or pets, if you think you will miss them. Photos can be comforting. Get a laptop computer if you do not have one; bring your laptop if you do. You will likely want a desk or floor lamp. You should also have a small supply of over-the-counter (OTC) drugs--ibuprofen, acetaminophen, cough medicine, allergy medicine, antihistamine. They are good to have around if you find yourself coming down with something and do not have time to go out and get some medicine. Also, cleaning supplies--sponge and dish soap, bathroom cleaner, scrub brush, air freshener, a small vacuum cleaner and replacement filters, etc. Since you have a kitchen area, a basic set of cooking utensils--small skillet, large skillet, saucepan, small stock pot--would be useful. If the kitchen has a refrigerator and microwave, that's cool, but if it does not you are gonna want those things. Consider storage; you might want to wait until you get there to see how much space you have and figure out what kind and how many storage units you need. I have two 3-drawer rolling storage bins that I keep under my bed; they are a little less than a meter wide, about half a meter high and they hold all my nonperishable snacks, OTC drugs, and cooking/cleaning supplies.
