Throughout the third quarter of 2020, Huawei has greater influence in the whole online retail channel in Russia, and its online market share has increased from 25.5% in the third quarter of 2019 to 27.8% a year later. Meanwhile, Samsung's online retail influence has declined. The company recorded 26.3% online market share in the third quarter of 2020, down from 37.6% a year ago.
In terms of market share of online shipments in Russia, Samsung lost to Huawei and Xiaomi. However, the company successfully offset the shortage of online sales through strong sales in offline retail channels.
Overall, Samsung's online and offline retail channels have the highest total revenue. The two most popular smartphones in Russia are Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A31. It is not surprising that galaxy A51 is by far one of the most successful Galaxy phones in many other markets this year.
According to industry observers, the smart phone market in Russia is recovering, and the flagship model has received more attention, in part because of the attractive trade in offer. At the same time, Samsung's competitors from China continue to actively attack the medium and low-end market.
