My two year old grabbed the hose from me and squirted herself directly in her face and up her nose. Now Iu2019m worried she will get a brain eating amoeba from water forced up her nose. We have city water and live in Hawaii. Would you be concerned?

does city water with the chemicals in it damage my lawn?

Well it all depends on altitude, location/climate, this will lead to the types of bugs you have and soil/ground its on. Plus how often you mow it and if you have over/under treated it with fertilizer. The "perfect" grass is very difficult to achieve in many parts of the US and with many different types of grass. Plus when you first put grass down it may take a while to adapt to the soil and/or root itself well. But usually all-in-all grass is pretty beefy stuff and can withstand most anything with just a little bit of care and knowledge of what "it" needs specifically. I did landscaping for 3 years and some grasses in some places just can not do well....almost impossible. Yet others would grow like wildfire without anything but a good cut once a week. It really depends on too many factors to give a direct answer. One problem with the type of grass you put in is that its from Asia and it really only does well in the low eastern parts of the U.S.....not even Florida with the constant heat. But again it adapts pretty well and you should give it time and whatever you do....do not kill it with fertilizer trying to save it....too much is like poison. About the city water, this grass is well known for its resilience to acidic soil so you should be good.

Is bottled water REALLY any better for you than your own City water from the faucet?

According to pamphlets I have read, U.S. tap water is generally as healthy or sometimes healthier than bottled H2O. Some tap water may have an off taste, this can be reduced by chilling the water in the fridge. Local tap water often has to be sampled up to 100 times. As for minerals in water, it is your personal preference. For example I seen a seltzer spring water brand that claims it has the same calcium in a liter, as a glass (8 oz.) of milk

Does anyone have experience/knowledge of La PURE Water, Inc. Whole House City Water Filtration & Conditioning?

La pure was the only company who took samples and contacted my water district to get the annual water report. They also asked about static, flow pressures and gpm for my house. They calculated my usage and built a water system for my house not a unit off the shelf.

tap water is ok for fish, but u should use a water conditoner like stress coat which de-chorlinates water. This is a must when using tap water. Ive been using tap water for 13 years, when it comes to water changes.

I want to know how a good breeder handles everything, do you know?

1. Just prior to whelping, the dam is isolated in her whelping box. 2. The whelping box has newspaper, and old towels for mom to nest in. No newsprint after the pups are born. I use blankets then. 3. The pups are washed with only a washcloth prior to weaning. They get a full bath prior to leaving for their new home. 4. I give Bordetella at 4 weeks, and DHPPC at 6 weeks. They are wormed at 4 weeks, as well. If I saw no worms, I take a sample to the vet's to make sure there are no more worms at about 6 weeks, and worm again at that time, if necessary. 5. I start to wean at about 4 weeks (using ground up kibble and warm water), and continue to let them nurse. 6. I gradually take the food from a mush consistency to a little firmer. They continue to nurse. 7. I offer completely dry kibble, with a shallow bowl of water at about 6 weeks. (Since mom has been gradually less challenged, she is about dried up by now). 8. I've never experienced a pup that wanted away from the litter. 9. I put pups in a towel lined laundry basket while I clean. 10. I do not let pups leave the litter before they are 8 weeks old. 11. If the weather is good, I let them play outside after 6 weeks of age. I also do not allow potential buyers to see them until after their 1st shot. And I let them exercise in an x-pen, not a cage. 12. Parvo is a virus that does not survive outside of a host animal. 13. Puppy fights are quite normal, it is the litter's way to teach each other that there is a "pecking order". If a fight becomes too intense, I will break it up, and mix the two pups in with other groups in the litter. 14. It is perfectly normal for pups to growl in the litter, as someone is trying to play the bully, and it does not get very far with the littermates. 15. I have a five page form that has to be filled out, and returned to me, before I let someone even see the pups. The form includes what breeds have been owned, what happened to the prior pets, and vet releases, so I can talk with their veterinarian, regarding how serious these people are. I have turned potential buyers away, if I do not think they are a good candidate for my breed. 16. I buy plush toys for each puppy, and they are with the pups then I send one home with each pup (unwashed to keep the smells), to help the pup acclimate to its new home. Also, they get a bag of the puppy's food that they were weaned on. Also, if they do not have city water, 2 gallons of my water. The first is used undiluted, and as the second is being used, they add their own water to fill the gallon. Of course, they get a pedigree, papers, and a bill of sale. Hope this helps you.
