I Have a Question About the Whole "2012 End of the World Theory"?

Here's how it works. Suppose a Hebrew author says the world will explode on 29th of Nisan, 5770 in the Hebrew calendar. We do a conversion and find that the equivalent Gregorian date is 13th April, 2010. So we conclude that the world will explode tomorrow. Converting dates between calendars is not difficult, although sources disagree as to the exact conversion between the Mayan Long Count and the Gregorian calendar. The most accepted correlation is Mayan Long Count date 13.0.0.0.0 = Gregorian date 21st December 2012. The Mayans never actually said anything about the end of the world. That's all down to crackpot authors and lamebrains who think that calendar rollover dates mean natural disasters.

You know what I do every time my Mayan calendar ends? I go to the mall and buy a new Mayan calendar. No Mayan thought the world was ending in 2012, it's just the end of the calendar. Our calendar ends every year, and no one runs around screaming the world's going to end. (Okay, maybe they did at the end of 1999, but the world certainly did not end, so that further proves my point.)

Yes, I agree. F*** the government. They hide a lot from the people. But the 2012 suspicion has nothing to do with the government. This suspicion was brought about due to the crazy interpretations of the Mayan calendar. Seeing that it 'ended' on December 21st of 2012, people thought the world would end. Now to the Mayans; the Solstice on December 21, 2012 'marks the completion of the 5,125 year Great Cycle of the Ancient Maya Long Count Calendar.' Try doing some research before you start flipping out. The human chip is only another myth and believe - WE HAVE THOUSANDS floating around. Now, though I do not doubt any of these 'possibilities' I do not pay much mind to them. If I do, it's only research as to how they came about.

There have been end-of-world predictions going back 4,700 years. This is just another one. The difference is our 24/7 news info available now. It's what some people want to hear about (The reason all these predictions surface in the first place). So the media plays it up, but now with a greater ability to reach more people

OK do you really believe world will end? I doubt it very much. From all of the bible teachings God is a forgiving God. He is not vengeful lord, the world will be what it always is. People need to change. We need to be tolerant of others, not think that we always know what is right! The world will be where our Lord want's it to be.
