1. Does Google talk support video/audio calls on Linux (using Pidgin)?
It should work with pidgin also. Maybe you are missing some packages as stated at pidgin faq: As stated in this askubuntu question you must install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly and gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg (I also installed by myself gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse, because I read about it somewhere I do not remember)But after installing those packages, and after restarting pidgin, I could not make it work at first. (Empathy works at first restart, see below). So what I did after installing the packages to make it work (I am not sure of which steps are really necessary, but doing them all made it work): I tested with Pidgin and definetely works with one official Google Talk client:An alternative That seems to work more easily just after a restart of the program AND seems to work better with other Google Talk clients overall. Try Empathy. (Default for ubuntu now)I tested with Empathy and definetely works with other Google Talk clients (google ones):Note: Remember that you need to install those same packages needed for pidgin to make video/audio work with Empathy also. 8. How do I get the best video and audio possible with Blu Ray movies?
Once you get the player hooked up with an HDMI cable, use a Pixar BluRay disk and go to the video setup menu. Use the test patterns to set the TV brightness, color and contrast. Better would be the BluRay version of Digital Video Essentials. It has more test patterns and audio instructions to level adjust your speakers as well.
9. What digital camera takes the best video and audio?
I think there are some more options cheaper than this for the same quality:- Canon A470, Samsung S860, Kodak C813, Olympus FE310. I have chosen FE310. I suggest you to look for ISO, Shutter speed, lens quality and optical(not digital) zoom for comparing cameras than comparing merely by MP. Look at following tutorial that how ISO affects photo quality. For reviews etc. of different cameras, go to yahoo shoping->electronics->digital cameras and then search for camera guide.Hope that helped.
10. trim and fade in/out video and audio with avconv (or different tool)
Trim:Seek 20 seconds -(i)n input.mkv (and discard, by default) let it play for 30 seconds and discard everything else from there. So you've got a 30 seconds video.FadeFirst you need to create an image for your fades. Probably a single *.png image, full white or full black depending on your taste. In the same resolution your video was recorded, preferably. This means, fade 2 seconds (-r input:1 / 2 x 50 frames per second = 100 fps). For the image info you can check The Gimp or ImageMagick. Now you've got your fade effect. Fade In:Fade in from 0 to 50 frames (1 second - 50fps)Fade In Out: Take the last input as your fade in and add some fade outDone.
