First a DVD Creator is needed for making VHS to DVD. And then you can refer to a dvd software rip the dvd into iso file and then editting it on PC

3. Is there any way to convert a VHS home video to the computer?
You can get converters to do this from any electronics shop and quite a few supermarkets. In the UK they are about 20. You plug your VCR (or analog camcorder) into one side and the other side plugs into a USB port on the PC
4. Home video vs movies- there is a difference in what you see.?
Get a good movie editing program, with transitions and so you can add music. I use pinnacle studio 11 ultimate. I made a Christmas DVD with files from my digital camera, my camcorder and then added a slide show of stills at the end. It turned out pretty good

You need not copy it to the computer and then copy to a new DVD. Go to Nero. Select the DVD option on the top and take your mouse pointer nearer to the icons there and select the back up option. There you will find a copy DVD option. Select it. Now system as taken the copy back up, The DVD will come out of the tray and will ask for the plain DVD that is to copied. Insert the DVD and close the tray. Thats all your old DVD content is now copied to the new DVD in the actual format as in the old DVD

8. It takes 4 plus hours to burn one home video dvd. What makes it so slow and take so long?Sometimes it freezes.
Part of the problem is you simply do not have enough RAM for cache files. Doing DVD burning takes A LOT of space, but it should not take 4 hours. It's possible that, on your DVD burner settings, you may be asking it to record at too high of a speed. It may be giving you the option to go at 16X, but the machine might really only be able to handle 2X or 4X. That's what your freezing or hanging-up problem may be related to. Try telling the system to burn at 2X or 4X, that may solve your problem. It should not take more than 2 hours to burn most disks, and often less than 1 hour each after the first one, if it's the same info. Nero is a bit better than Ulead, in the burning department. If you can, I would recommend getting Roxio Toast. That's one of the best.
