How Can I Upgrade Windows Xp to Windows Xp Service Pack 2? 1

You can download the Windows Service Packs from the Microsoft Update site. Or you can order the update cd from Microsoft. If you wish to download it, click Start/All Programs/Windows Update. I would advise getting Service Pack 3 (SP3) because it contains all of the service packs.

Windows XP-- Screenshot not working...help!!!?

I presume you are using the Print Screen key. I've never heard of that happening so it could be a mapping issue. It is just screen shots or when you are trying to paste text also? Perhaps you may have to use a 3rd party program as a work around

Windows CE vs. Windows XP Embedded

According to Microsoft, Windows CE is preferable to Windows XP Embedded in situations where demanding wireless and multimedia requirements need to be met. The following are the primary considerations for "choosing the right version": CPU architecture: Windows CE supports an extensive array of architectures, including x86, whereas Windows XP Embedded only supports the x86 architecture. Real-time applications: Windows CE is a real-time operating system, while Windows XP Embedded is not by default. Existing Win32 applications: Windows CE cannot use Win32 binaries, libraries, and drivers without modification. Memory footprint: The minimum footprint of Windows CE is 350 kilobytes. The minimum footprint of Windows XP Embedded is 8 megabytes, making it over 23 times larger. There is also a difference in cost.

Need a licensed version of Windows XP?

First of all.. do not get Vista unless you know you have more than adequate hardware requirements. Go with any other version of XP and not hard to find. You can either buy it directly from Microsoft or go to your nearest Tiger Direct outlet. Usualy they will start at around $130. In the meantime, disable automatic updates

Windows XP autostart process as administrator

Easy. Like msindle suggested, you will want to put the shortcut in the startup folder, but if it needs to run as an admin, you will have to a) provide the admin credentials the first time it runs, and b) use some command line switches. For example, the below is how I run ADUC as a domain admin, while logging on to my machine as a limited user. ("Target" field of the shortcut.)First bit calls runas.exe, which is what lets you run a program as a different user in XP, /user specifies the user (if you want a local account, user the machine name instead of the domain name), /savcred allows the credentials to be saved (after entering them once), and the last bit is what program's being called - Microsoft Management console with the dsa (ADUC) snap-in. EDIT:I've also had success with:and:But, according to the comments below, this might not be normal behavior

Windows XP powers down on boot

Did you come up with a solution? I am having the exact same problem, and the PC has just been running hours in Safe Mode. I have also tried to do a System Restore with out any luck.If it is some kind of virus/worm causing this, is not there any tools to help you with this?My personal guess is a faulty driver, but how can I identify this? Is there some kind of log when Windows boots, so I can which driver was the las one loaded, when the system powers down?

hi, i have a windows xp and just bought a lap top with windows xp?

You need to have a wireless router to share your internet connection between two (or more) computers. You can get a decent one for about $40. I would recommend D-Link or Linksys, but there are quite a few different brands available. Having a router will also add a layer of security as you will be behind a firewall which can make it more difficult for someone to hack into you system.
